We're delighted to have had an abstract accepted for poster presentation at the Alzheimer's Disease International (ADI) conference being held at the ExCel conference centre in London from March 7th - 10th. This is in partnership with Angie MacDonald, a PhD student at University College Falmouth who is researching gardens as restorative environments and using Creative Spaces as a case study. If you're attending the conference and would like to come along and chat about any aspect of the project Angie and I will be present at the poster exhibition from 12.45 - 13.45 on Friday 9th.
The importance of outdoor environments in dementia care is slowly appearing on people's radar, mostly still as places to enhance the lives of residents. With Creative Spaces, we have taken additional steps and are using the garden at Trevarna and outdoor-related activities to support staff, visitors and the community as well as the residents. I hope we'll meet people at the conference who are doing something similar or at least are keen to do so.
